Climate Finance Works
While at COP17 in Durban, South Africa, CCAP-Europe released Climate Finance Works, which showcases 40 climate finance success stories, made possible through European funding. At the release, delegates from Chile, Costa Rica and the European Commission spoke about the importance of climate finance, as well as progress made in creating policies that target emissions reductions in developing countries.
CCAP-Europe President Ned Helme introduced the report, noting the "whole range" of initiatives profiled in Climate Finance Works that are funded through European financing. "On the ground, we're really seeing significant action in developing countries," Helme said at the press conference. He called Climate Finance Works "a very exciting sort of picture" that "gives you a flavor of what's possible with the Green Fund."
Head of Climate Change Office of the Ministry of Environment of Chile Andrea Rudnick Garcia touched on the progress Chile has made in designing Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). So far, Garcia said, Chile has identified NAMAs in the energy, forestry and transportation sectors.
Costa Rican Minister of the Environment Rene Castro and Director General of Directorate General on Climate Action at the European Commission Jos Delbeke also spoke.
